When I started getting into sewing my kids’ clothes, I quickly fell down the rabbit hole of beautiful knit prints and coordinating solids. I wanted to make professional-quality garments for my kids in exactly the colors, prints, and patterns I liked -- but finding fabrics that all went together was a challenge, especially when buying online.
I started Tangerine Originals to make that process easier for other sewists. I had the idea that every few months, I would release a capsule of fabrics that all coordinated together so a parent could sew a whole wardrobe of beautiful clothes for their child or to give as gifts. That capsule could then be broken down into separate bundles for sewing just one or two garments, giving sewists more choice to reflect a child’s personal style.
We source GOTS and OEKO-Tex certified fabrics because chemical content matters when it comes to sensitive baby skin, and fabrics produced to meet those certifications are better for the environment. All our fabrics are GOTS certified with the exception of See You At Six fabrics, which are OEKO-Tex certified only.
The fabric bundles you see on our site today are our first Collection. Our second set of fabrics will be launching in March and will include a few new types of material beyond just knits (we’ll send some sneak peeks to our newsletter list -- sign up here!).
